MADYMO human models provide a tool set capable of realistic human response prediction for a broad range of loading conditions no physical crash test dummy exists for. The MADYMO human model portfolio comprises both passive and active models. This means spine joint restraints and muscles combine passive stiffness characteristics and active control to realistically represent responses of living human beings.
MADYMO human models can be used for front, side, rear and vertical impact as well as intermediate impact directions and more complicated scenarios like rollover. Consequently, these human models are more biofidelic than crash-test dummies and their virtual counterparts, which are developed for a single loading direction only. While crash dummy models are merely used for simulations of standard (regulatory) impact tests, the MADYMO human models have been developed for the evaluation and optimisation of passive and active restraint systems in a wider range of (real-world) loading conditions. Moreover, the MADYMO active human model is currently the only human model on the market that can accurately simulate occupant behaviour in pre-crash emergency braking and crash avoidance manoeuvres.
The reliability of our models is your key benefit. Our human model database has been validated on segment as well as on full body level, against an extensive set of volunteer- and PMHS (Post Mortem Human Surrogates) tests. A range of sled tests and blunt impact tests have been used in various loading directions and for various body parts to validate the models. All models have demonstrated capability to predict kinematics and accelerations and display realistic thorax compliance.
