The demand for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) in the automotive industry is greater than ever; in 2016, 21% of new cars had AEB as standard fit and a further 27% as optional fitment. AEB and other ADAS systems are beginning to flood the market and it is up to consumer groups such as Euro NCAP to assess a system performance to assist a buyer in making the right purchase. In an effort to eradicate system sub-optimisation, and keep safety a number 1 priority to vehicle manufacturers, consumer group Euro NCAP have devised more and more complex testing scenarios. 2018 sees a new era in ADAS consumer testing with stricter requirements on e.g. 3D moving vehicle targets. With this in mind TASS International has taken all necessary measures to be well ahead of the challenging market demands before the 2018 implementation and has invested in an AB Dynamics Guided Soft Target.
For TASS International, ISO certification is a necessity for all company activities, especially with regard to performing tests and homologation activities. It is therefore with great pride that we can announce that the Dutch Accreditation Council RvA has acknowledged TASS International for performing all ADAS tests for vehicles (Light and Heavy-Duty) in accordance with ISO 17025, making them the first company in the world to achieve this ambitious goal.
The accredited tests include the following elements:
In the development and certification of ADAS for Light Duty Vehicles TASS International has also reached a major new milestone by being able to perform all necessary tests in accordance with the upcoming 2018 Euro NCAP protocols. The existing 2016 protocols will be significantly reinforced and further extended, introducing GRID approach, more CCR and VRU tests including night time, cyclist tests, and much more. Having all new protocols in sight and facilities in place, including AB Dynamics driving/steering robots, SPT and GST (Soft Pedestrians Target and Guided Soft Target), TASS International have invested to be set for the future and able to service OEM’s in meeting these challenging future demands.
Heavy Duty Vehicles
Specifically for Heavy Duty Vehicles (trucks and buses) TASS International has also been appointed as official designated test house by the RDW (UNECE approval authority for the Netherlands), enabling them to offer clients a full package of mandatory testing services and homologation of Lane Departure Warning Systems (UNECE-R130) and Advanced Emergency Braking System (UNECE-R131).
TASS International has a rich history of more than 25 years supporting the global automotive industry in the creation of safer and smarter vehicles, offering a set of advanced simulation software tools, tailor-made engineering solutions and state-of-the-art testing and certification facilities and services, with the aim to improve Integrated Safety Systems of vehicles and boost the development of Highly Automated- and Connected Driving.
