TASS International, a Siemens business, has released an update to the MADYMO ellipsoid model of the Hybrid-III 5th percentile dummy. As the dummy is coming under increasing attention as crash testing protocols are adapted to increase protection for more vulnerable occupants, we are pleased to announce that version 2.1 of the model offers increased accuracy and robustness in the thorax and extremities and improved user handling. In addition, it now supports the calculation of new injury criteria including the BrIC and peak upper neck load.
The update includes:
- a remodelled thorax, optimised for accuracy
- new injury criteria added, including the BrIC and upper neck peak
- limb joint updates to improve correlation and numerical robustness
- improvements to aid in positioning the model
